CREATING A UNIQUE BLAZER // PAINTING AND SEWING PROJECT

___________________________________Hello Hivers___________________________________

As I was tidying up some stuff today I accidentally found out an old sewing project I did last year while studying at my college. The project was a blazer that fits me but I never wear it or actually finished it 100%. I am a fun of oversized and well sewed blazers they are super stylish but it is not that much my style so I never wore something like this before and that's why my project went to the box with the abandoned clothes. Although when I found it I felt kinda bad about this cloth cause it was one of my first projects, I allocated time and efford to make this and also the template and the fabric are really cute.

So I decided to add my personal touch in this cloth and give it a different style than a casual blazer and finally make this work for me. In order to do this I had first to finish my project cause there was some work to be done there. I had to sew the hem of the blazer and of it's sleeves as well but I didn't want them to be visible so I did some hidden stitches by hand on the inside.

I started wondering what should I do with this blazer to make it more wearable for my style. I decided to add some color touches starting from creating painted patches and sew them on the blazer cause that would make it like more streetwear. Luckily I still had the leftovers of the fabric I used a year ago for this blazer so I cut some small and medium size rectangles for my patches.

I had a white color which is especially for fabrics and is durable to handwashing so I painted every patch with a white background and let them dry for some hours. I also created some frayed ends at the fabric because I loved the way it looked.

As soon as the white background color had dry I started doing some sketches on the patches like whatever came into my mind. Some sketches and also some messages maybe a little bit aggressive but it was part of the result I wanted to have. The black color I used for drawing is not a special fabric color but just an acrylic color so I hope it will last. Of course I did a few tests before and with handwash and cold water it was okay.

I let the patches to fully dry a couple of hours and then I pinned them at the blazer trying to figure out what works out better. As soon as I settled on the layout I started sewing the patches.

I did some more brushstrokes directly on the blazer and sew a leftover fabric on the top of it and at the top of the one sleeve. One of my favorite fabrics suede with those beautiful geometric cuts.

Here is the result of my brand new blazer after all those intervantions:

I am very happy with the result, it is a blazer that I definitely want to wear and what I love most is that is a unique piece for my own wardrobe that no one else have. I also enjoyed so much the photography part of this project at the rooftop of my house and I would like to give special thanks to my man @knowhow92 for helping me with the shots.

I hope you enjoyed my post guys, thank you for stopping by.
Have a great day everyone!

Cool! This looks like a great intervention so that the clothes are not so boring and the photos look great. Good thing you had that fabric paint, the patches turned out really well and in contrast to the fabric. Congratulations ❤️.

Yeah I wasn't so sure about the fabric paint if it would really last cause I had only used it once before. Luckily it turned out durable!

Nothing is plain for us crafters. One should think outside the box to be unique. And you did it.🥰 plus you were able to save your blazer from the dungeon.😅

I agree when it comes to creativity you should always think outside of the box.
Thank you again for your words 😊😊
