The other day, I was going through my mums closet and I saw this George material that she used to make wrappers. In this part of the country, it is a traditional wear for women, the sew a blouse and tie two wrappers on it, it is stylish and beautiful. When I asked if she was still going to use the material she said no and I decided to trunk it into a dress I would wear next Sunday.
I made a trending dress that is called a gown with basque and a slightly pudfed sleeve, just wanted to keep that simple. This took me approximately 2 days to accomplish.
The process involved in making the was me getting the materials, I had to loose the edges because it was sewn and had to cut out the fabric the the style I wanted.
That's the outcome of the material used above, and the material used below was used to achieve the basque or the gather on the dress
I forgot to take pictures of while I was cutting the bodice. Well, it was a half length gown, shaped with the bust , waist and hip measurement. I also added a zipper at the back with the half inch dart for shape.
After achieving this, I added the basque by adding tiny pleats, that's the result below.
I went on to add the already cut sleeve, it's a puff sleeve hence it's as big as that. I also added elastic band to the bottom.
That was how I achieved this style. It wasn't an easy ride as I experience thread cutting on several occasion and the machine acting up but in all it came through.
