Hello, needleworkers!
Who's agree with me that starting over is not an easy thing to do? Like recently i did, i never touched my crochet hooks or a while, well i could say it is a quite long time, because after losing my mother, i felt like my world has also ruined and i fight everyday with my creativity, until i could fully relieved and getting all my energy to do creative arts again like before. Until now i could say i still fight with it........
Recently i tried to hold my hook again, and tried to do again most of the stitches i ever learned.... Yes, i did chain stitches, single crochet, double crochet, even magic ring.
Then i got an idea why if i tried something i never tried before, and i remembered about granny square. I browsed the internet, found a tutorial about it on youtube. The one that i tried to make was vintage filet granny square.....
From the magic ring, i made chain 5, then double crochet, chain 2 and double crochet again.... all i had to do in the magic ring.
Then chain 2, double crochet into the ring, and all the notes i made below in the picture.
Shortly i tried all the steps until i found out that my yarn was too thick.
So i had inisiative to change my yarn and fought again with the same tutorial but this time also i made a total failure, plus the tutorial was too fast and it also didn't fit me well... it made me a bit desperate...
Plus i was also got the influenza since that day (last Friday), so i fought with the yarn, hooks plus the flu. I got my vaporub with me that time........
then with the feeling of a bit down (i thaught about other needlework projects i could make instead of crochet, like embroidery, plushie doll, hand sewing and other things), i saved my hooks and yarn then going to sleep ended up with not a sleep tight night.
But then on the other day, on Saturday while i helped my aunt in her noodle shop i still thaught about the granny square, then i tried to find another tutorial for granny square, which i could easily catch up, then in this tutorial i found another kind of granny square, solid granny square, then i tried it...... Follow me. For this project, i used my milk yarn with my 4 mm hook. Let's get started!
1ST
First row: i made chain 5, then slipped stitched to the 1st chain. After that i chained 5 then 3 double crochet to the circle. To make a corner: chain 2, then 3 double crochet to the circle.
2ND
Next, chained 2 then 3 double crochet to the circle then chained 2 and 2 double crochet to the circle. After that i slipped stitched to the 3rd chain.
3RD
To finished the first row then began the second row i slipped stitched to the left circle. Started the second row with chaining 5 then 2 double crochet to the corner. Next, i did double crochet for each of the 3 stitches. Then doing the corner by making 2 double crochet, chained 2 and
4TH
2 more double crochet. After that doing the double crochet again for each of the stitches. Find corner again then doing again 2 double crochet, 2 chains and 2 double crochet. After that double crochet to each of the 3 stitches. And corner again, 2 double crochet, 2 chains and 2 double crochet.
5TH
Double crochet for each 3 stitches, 1 double crochet to the corner then slipped stitched to the 3rd of the chain and slipped stitched to the corner then second row finished. For the third row, chained 5, then 2 double crochet.
6TH
Next, double crochet in each of the 7 stitches. Corner again: 2 double crochet, chained 2 and 2 double crochet. Again double crochet in each of the 7 stitches. And corner again, the same formula, double crochet in each of the 7 stitches. Then did the same for the other side. After finished....
THE RESULT
Slipped stitched to the third chain again then voila the solid granny square was made. Not perfect but for the same yarn i did this twice, at least i was trying hard to make it and i didn't give up. How do you think?
I need suggestions, especially from our @needleworkmonday community about crochet, please help me.
