Hello, friends especially needleworkers and DIYers!
I always spend my Sunday with craft like yesterday, I got an idea to make a brooch from felt (luckily I had a pin at home), so I made it and I am so satisfied with the result I got. Now you could also have this sweet hoot loot owl brooch by following how I made it in my article, let’s check it out!
Project Time: approximately 2.5 hours
Difficulty: easy
Skills needed:
- Whipped stitch
- Back stitch
- Blanket stitch
Materials and Things needed:
- Felt fabrics in purple, medium brown, red and white
- Scissors, I used two kind of it, a medium size one was paper scissors and a smaller one was craft scissors
- Needle
- Embroidery floss in black, brown, red, white, purple, and yellow
- Polyester fiber filling (Dacron)
- Any pins you could find at home
1ST
What I started to do first was cutting all the felt fabrics I had. First I cut the purple for the body (front and back part), medium brown for the wing, red for a small heard and white for the face.
2ND
Next I cut off the brown for the back (to add on the pin) then all the parts of the cute owl were finished. I then whipped stitch the brown to the back like below.
3RD
After that I back stitched the eye with double strands of the black floss. The eyes were closed. Then I embroidered the beak like below. For this beak I used four strands of the yellow floss. After finished, I put it on the front body part with double strands of white floss, also with the whipped stitch.
4TH
Next I continued by embroidered the v for the wing with double strands of the brown floss. Then I also whipped stitch it to the body, I did the same to the red heart, I also joined it unto the body with the whipped stitch.
5TH
Last I would like to close all with the blanket stitch, first I did to the wing part with the brown floss. Then I did the same with the purple floss. I also didn’t forget to put some Dacron filling before I closed it all. I also added the pin on the back..
The Result
Voila, this sweet hoot loot owl brooch is finished. Look I could put it on my pouch or even my sewing pouch or even to my shirt… Now you could make your own owl too (customize it with your choice of color)!
