Whoo Hoo!!! I am so excited to share with you that I have begun my Holiday Art Mart journey! 😃

I have started my crocheted scrunchies and have also start buying setup equipment (more on that next week).

It took me a couple of tries to get to the scrunchies I am happy with (this is my first time making them). I played around with different sized hooks as well as the thickness of yarn. I still plan to try a few more different yarn textures as well.

On my first attempt I was crocheting a bit too tight which didn’t allow the scrunchie to have a nice stretch to it…

IMG_8426.jpeg

The result of this shows here…

IMG_8425.jpeg

It really wasn’t giving me the look I wanted and the tighter stitches made the yarn feel more rough as well.

I kept trying to stretch out my work to make it more loose and then the ponytail holder snapped. I learned that getting the ones that have that sort of indent in them are more likely to break. I don’t want this happening to a customer…

IMG_8427.jpeg

I want them to be able to stretch and pull on the scrunchie as much as they want without it ripping on them.

I switched from using that style to these bands…

IMG_8429.jpegIMG_8430.jpeg

They have so much more elasticity, are softer and I feel more confident in them to hold up better for this project. I am so glad this happened now so that I could know what works better.

From there I started over with looser stitches and a bigger sized hook. I want these scrunchies to have a generous amount of yarn on them; fully clothed and a quality feel.

IMG_8428.jpeg

I’m using a half double crochet stitch which makes it move along quite well but each scrunchie takes more than 15 minutes. I finish the larger ones in a day and can get about one and a half of the smaller ones done in about the same time.

I could do a lot more but being a stay at home mom of five prevents me from sitting on the couch all day to just crochet. This is why I wanted to start way in advance to have plenty of time to make my items exactly the way I imagine them to look.

These are my fist finished pieces and I can say that I am very happy with the outcome.

IMG_8418.jpeg

They have just the amount of scrunch I was wanting to see and have a knit like look to them which I love.

What do you think?

After finishing the multicolored one I tried making a smaller one with the leftover yarn. It didn’t scrunch up enough so I couldn’t use it to sell but I didn’t let it go to waste.

My five year old absolutely loved it so it now belongs to her…

IMG_8432.jpeg

She loves the look of having two layers so I always put it on this way 😄.

My goal is to first use up the nice yarn I have on hand before buying any more. There are so many other colors I want to get my hands on but I can be patient…I think 😬.

My thirteen year old wants me to make her a blue one to wear as a bracelet. Speaking of that I had her wear all of them for a photo 😆…

Did you know that this generation are also using scrunchies to signify when they are in a relationship? Yes, it’s really a thing. Girls are giving these to boys they think are cute. If he likes the girl in return he then wears the scrunchie to show the world they’re together.

Wow, who would have known scrunchies would have made such a comeback and would be used in such a way.

They are also used to decorate bags and purses and put on keychains.

I am having so much fun making these. This is where I got my inspiration.

As soon as I finish one I am off starting the next. I want to have an abundance to sell at the holiday market.

I will make one for my mom and sister to wear on their arm while at the sale. I plan on wearing one or two in my hair and on my arms as well. Hey, advertise as much as possible right?! 😁

I’ll try to share with you next week one of my display ideas. I hope you like it.

Now, off I go to finish my next one…

This is the color I’ll be making my eldest. I love the shades of blue on this one but can’t wait to get to that pretty green that’s coming up next…

Thanks so much for scrunching me in your schedule and taking the time to read ~ 🩵

I’ll See You Next Time!

The pigtails are beautiful, I congratulate you, they look great on you, hey, I didn't know that about giving pigtails to the boys 😳. I'll be attentive when I make my daughters pigtails so I know who they like 😊, thanks for sharing, I hope you have a great Monday and a blessed week 🥰

Hi @marlynmont! Thank you for the compliments of my work ☺️.

Haha yes stay attentive so you'll know. I thought that was very interesting so thought I'd share ~ 😉

Thank you. I hope you have a blessed week as well!

Oh, these are very beautiful scrunchies, I love the multi-colored ones as they would fit any kind of outfit.

I wish I know how to knit🤭🤭. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Amie!! I'm the same way. I love those multiple colors.

I truly appreciate your feedback ~ 😃🤗

Aww they are so beautiful, the multicoloured ones are my favourites, wishing I could get scrunches as beautiful as these around my area, it's good you got a more durable ponytail holder, would be so bad they didn't last long after gifting.

Good job you've done here.

Thanks so much!! It seems the multicolored ones might be the most popular. I'll make sure to have a good mix of them. 👌🏽

I appreciate your feedback ~ 💓

Wow! you have done a nice job @crosheille, the scrunchies are beautiful, I loved it in various colors, it looks great; how much information thanks for sharing I didn't know that they are used to indicate that guys are in a relationship, I wish you success and lots of blessings in your new project.

Happy start of the week!

Thank you @belkyscabrera! Yay I'm so happy you like them. I plan to have plenty of both the solid colors and multicolored ones.

I know isn’t that something? Now I’m going to be looking out to see who’s wearing one 😄.

Thanks again for the visit and comment ~ 🥰

And that advertising strategy got me laughing. The best way to display your products I must say.
You are really trying I must commend you for making use every small opportunity to do this, it is not easy working and attending to the kids. It takes a strong mother to fulfil her goals and achieve her dreams while raising kids plus all the other relatives you have to attend to as well.

I love the blue one you have mixed with another color it looks great and seems its more beautiful to mix these colors creatively into the different scrunchies.
I prefer the mixed color while another person might just go for a plan color.

Hopefully we will see more of these beauty from now till the sales day.

Cheers and well-done 💖🌺🌼🌷

Hahaha! I'm going to have everyone I know wear one of these scrunchies to help me advertise 😂😆!

Truly I thank you for your words. It is such a challenge raising a family while still trying to pursue these goals. I’m grateful I’ve been able to manage for so long. I’ve had to learn when to cut back but it’s still worth the challenge. ☺️

I’m with you on the color preference. I will pick colors over plain any day 😄.

Thanks so much to you for your wonderful response and words of encouragement. I look forward to sharing more of my progress with you all ~ 💖

I could have been your customer and buy the first scrunchies for my self except for distance sake 💖.
Well done dearie

Awww how sweet of you. That would have been so lovely ~ ☺️🤗

I do love it, finally you did it, these are amazing. Keep on, we are in aou scrunchies era <3

Thank you!! 😃🤗

Wow, fun fact about couples and scrunchies, it's so weird to me, hahaha.
Glad to hear you are making progress on your inventory of products for sale at the show, the scrunchies are coming along beautifully and I love the colors you've used so far.
I can imagine your family, being a mom of five must take up all your time, but at the same time it must be a beautiful thing.
I hope your inventory continues to grow.
Best regards.

Hahaha I chuckled when I first learned about it. Makes you wonder who starts these trends or how they come up with these ideas. 😄

Thanks a bunch. This feedback is just what I needed. I am even more excited to be doing this now.

It is both beautiful and exhausting having a big family. I love my time with the kids but also love my peaceful crafting time as well lol.

Thank you. I’ll be keeping you all posted on my progress ~ 😘

I simply love the mix of colours on that multi-colored one, it would go with almost everything I wear! So nice.

I don't do anything like this, craft things, so I'm often amazed at what's possible and the results people get.

Thank you! I am loving the feedback I am getting from the mixed colored one. I have so many yarns that are ombré and variegated and I love working with those the most.

Thanks so much for stopping by! 😊

You'll have a chuckle. I saw scrunchies and had flashes of "those days" and the who is responsible for me having that hairdo photo. But I started reading and am delighted that you are crocheting them. That is such a good idea! I am in an airboot - you may have missed that in my gardening post. Anyway I decided that I needed to keep my hands occupied while my foot has to be up. And I started to crochet for the first time in over a decade! Shocking. So shocking that I've had to stick with scarves for the kids so that I can refresh my memory

Hahaha yep I chuckled 😂😅! I've got many of those types of photos too lol.

I've been seeing these more and more lately and thought why not start making them too?. I hope they sell well. 🙏🏽

What?! Oh no! Okay, I have got to get around there and catch up to see what's been going on and how this happened to your foot.

Say what?! Okay you are really hitting me with a lot here...whewww I got really excited when I saw the word crochet. So this means you will be sharing with us soon...right? 👀

Has it been relaxing?

Did you know that this generation are also using scrunchies to signify when they are in a relationship?

Oha, I had no Idea!! Well know I know, there is some hidden messages around when I see some young ones with scrunchies:D

They look lovely!! I have never seen them in crochet (only fabric) but I must say it adds a very interesting texture and pattern! In the meantime be careful not to get all your scrunchies adopted, or you have none left by Christmas!😅

Hahaha yep! If you see any guys wearing one then you'll know they're in a relationship 😄.

Thank you! I’m so glad to know you like them. You have such an eye for fashion and design so I’m very happy knowing you think they’re lovely ☺️.

Lol I know!! Very good point and advice 😆🩷 ~

wow, I didn’t even think that an ordinary scrunchie was so difficult to crochet. It turns out there are so many nuances that are worth considering. Those hair bands of yours are great! your baby has amazing hair!!!! very interesting to see the rest of your hair ties! 😃

Thanks Tali!! There are other versions of these that I've seen and they don't take quite as long. Since I'm selling them I don't mind taking a bit longer to get the look that is of best quality (at least in my opinion). I always think that fuller is better 😁.

Thank you. I hadn't even combed her hair that week lol. I'm so grateful she has a beautiful grade of hair that is easy to manage. She wears her scrunchie all the time now.

Looking forward to showing you more ~ 😃

Wow this is indeed so beautiful and fantastic . I love the color of this crochet . Have a nice weekend ma

Thank you @mosesessien. I appreciate it ~

The scrunchies look so nice, I like this pattern.
I didn't know the meaning of the scrunchies but I think it so funny and interesting.

Thank you Katty! I've been enjoying making this pattern.

Lol isn't it interesting. I really laughed out loud when I read it 😄.
