I forgot to introduce you to my hand-sewn skirt:
Bei dem Material handelt es sich um eine alte Tischdecke. Die Tischdecke war nicht komplett symmetrisch, weshalb ich mich entschieden habe, die Seiten des Rockes kürzer zu machen als vorne.

Der Rock hat einen längeren Verarbeitungsprozess hinter sich, da ich ihn anfangs noch mit einer Maschine genäht habe. Allerdings hat mir dann nicht gefallen, wie er oben an der Taille saß. Es sah recht schmuddelig aus und ich habe mich dazu entschieden alles rauszunehmen und es von Hand zu machen.
Da ich eben auch noch nicht wusste, wie ich in den Rock kommen soll ohne Reißverschluss und Knopf, habe ich 2 Schnitte gemacht:

The skirt has undergone a longer processing process as I initially sewed it with a machine. However, I didn't like the way it sat at the top of the waist. It looked quite messy and I decided to take it all out and do it by hand.
As I didn't know how to get into the skirt without a zipper and button, I made 2 cuts:
Cut a hole at the top of the waist
Und alles sauber vernäht.
Und einen Schnitt an der Seite, der nun jedoch recht unnötig ist. Ich komm also in den Rock auch ohne den Schnitt an der Seite, weshalb ich ihn wieder komplett zu gemacht habe. Glücklicherweise fällt er nicht auf beim Tragen, da der Schnitt sich an der kurzen Seite des Rockes befindet. Diese kurzen Seiten des Rockes werden sowieso aufgeraffelt, da ich oben einen Gürtel durchziehe. Vorne und hinten möchte ich nämlich den Rock glatt und an der Seite aufgeraffelt haben. So passt er mir gut an der Taille, ist sogar verstellbar und an den Seiten des Rockes schauen nicht meine Beine heraus.
Denn bei energiebewahrender Kleidung ist zu beachten, dass der komplette Rock bis zu den Fußknöcheln reicht. Dies hat halt nun mit diesem Stoff nicht gepasst.

And a cut at the side, which is now quite unnecessary. So I can get into the skirt without the cut at the side, which is why I closed it completely again. Fortunately, it is not noticeable when you wear it as the cut is on the short side of the skirt. These short sides of the skirt will be gathered up anyway, as I'm going to pull a belt through the top. I want the skirt to be smooth at the front and back and gathered at the sides. This way it fits me well at the waist, is even adjustable and my legs don't peek out at the sides of the skirt.
With energy-preserving clothing, you have to make sure that the entire skirt reaches down to the ankles. This just didn't fit with this fabric.

und so ist das Ergebnis: bei diesem Bild erkennt man womöglich mehr, dass die kürzeren Seiten geraffelt werden

achso ja und ich hab kein Bügeleisen, weshalb ich mich mit Falten zufrieden geben muss :)
Der Saum unten ist außerdem noch mit der Maschine verarbeitet, da dies sehr gut aussieht und ich da einfach mir nicht noch mehr extra Arbeit machen wollte, wenn es doch eh schon total gut passt.
Oh yes, and I don't have an iron, so I have to make do with pleats :)
The hem at the bottom is also finished by machine because it looks really good and I just didn't want to do any extra work when it already fits really well.
Der Mantel
soo nun kommen wir zu meinem neuen Mantel:
Diesen Stoff habe ich second-hand erworben für 1€. Er ist sehr schwer und gefällt mir unglaublich, da er einfach und fest ist, wie auch sich unten ein wunderschönes Muster mit uralter Symbolik befindet :)
An diesem Stoff war es mir wichtig, dass ich keine Schnitte mache. Also habe ich geschaut, wie er aussieht, wenn ich ihn um mich werfe und habe dann an den passenden Stellen Knöpfe eingearbeitet.
The Coat
soo now we come to my new coat:
I bought this fabric second-hand for 1€. It is very heavy and I really like it because it is simple and firm, and there is a beautiful pattern with ancient symbolism at the bottom :)
It was important to me that I didn't make any cuts in this fabric. So I looked at how it would look when I threw it around me and then added buttons in the right places.
Der Mantel ist nun so lang, dass er gerade so nicht auf den Boden ragt. Also passend zum Drüberschmeißen, wenn ich im Winter lange Röcke und Kleider trage.
The coat is now so long that it barely reaches the floor. So it's perfect for throwing on when I wear long skirts and dresses in winter.
Da es ein symmetrischer Stoff war, sind die Ecken links und rechts länger als der Stoff, der am Rücken liegt. Doch das finde ich macht sogar ein gewissen Stil aus :)
Since it was a symmetrical fabric, the corners on the left and right are longer than the fabric on the back. But I think that even adds a certain style :)
Ich habe mich schon ein wenig sehr ins rabbithole begeben und mich mit der Symbolik beschäftigt. Dabei fällt mir stark auf, dass die Symbolik in allen Kulturen sich sehr ähneln und auch eine Ähnlichkeit in der Bedeutung haben.
Diese Symbolik auf dem Mantel konnte ich noch nicht komplett entschlüsseln, doch ähnelt auch den sehr alten Mustern, weshalb ich den Stoff auch als ziemlich alt einschätze. Er riecht sowieso noch nach alter Oma und Dachboden. Also entweder der Stoff wurde dort gebunkert und nun bei einer Hausauflösung einfach in Secondhand abgegeben, oder der Stoff stammt aus einem anderen Land dessen Einwohnermarkt, wo sie ihrer alten Tradition noch nachgehen.
Einen Post über Symbolik werde ich sowieso noch machen mit vielen Beispielen, da ich ja nicht einfach so Muster auf meiner Haut tragen möchte, dessen Bedeutung und Ursprung ich nicht kenne :>
Das Muster sieht aus wie eine Blume :/ aber welche genau kann ich nicht erkennen.
I have already gone into the rabbit hole a bit and looked into the symbolism. I noticed that the symbolism in all cultures is very similar and also has a similar meaning.
I have not yet been able to completely decipher the symbolism on the coat, but it also resembles very old patterns, which is why I consider the fabric to be quite old. It still smells like old granny and the attic anyway. So either the fabric was stashed there and simply handed in second-hand when the house was being cleared out, or the fabric comes from another country whose inhabitants' market still follows their old tradition.
I'm going to do a post about symbolism with lots of examples anyway, because I don't want to wear patterns on my skin that I don't know the meaning and origin of :>
The pattern looks like a flower :/ but I can't tell exactly which one.
Soo nun wie ich die Hirsch-Knöpfe eingearbeitet habe:
Ich habe den Stoff perfekt aufeinandergelegt, wie man erkennen kann: Die Ecken unten sind perfekt zusammen. Dann oben am Hals ein wenig Freiraum gelassen, dass der Mantel mir den Hals nicht einschnürt und ich auch noch einen Schal tragen kann.
Und dann die ganze Länge gemessen und durch 4 ausgerechnet. Wobei ich den obersten Knopf mit den 2. obersten Knopf eine größere Lücke gelassen. Die drei unteren Knöpfe haben jedoch den gleichlangen Abstand, was man auf den Bild vielleicht erkennen kann.
So now how I worked in the stag buttons:

And then I measured the whole length and divided it by 4. I left a larger gap between the top button and the 2nd top button. However, the three lower buttons have the same length, which you can perhaps see in the picture.
Dabei habe ich natürlich auf ein paar Details geachtet: Der Knopf soll nicht über das Muster ragen und auch die 2 Einstichstellen im Knopf zum Einnähen sollen waagerecht liegen.
Of course, I paid attention to a few details: The button should not protrude over the pattern and the 2 stitches in the button for sewing in should be horizontal.
Damit der Mantel seinen natürlichen Edel behält, habe ich mich für Lederbändchen entschieden, die die Knöpfe halten.

Hier habe ich auch stark darauf geachtet, dass die Lederbändchen alle gleich lang sind, mit den selben Abstand und genau gegenüber von den Knöpfen liegen und natürlich fest eingearbeitet, dass sie nicht ausreißen können.
Jedoch musste ich hier darauf achten, dass das Lederbändchen vom 1. Knopf ein wenig länger ist, da dieser Knopf der einzige der 4. ist, der ein klein wenig größer ist.
I also made sure that the leather straps were all the same length, the same distance apart, exactly opposite the buttons and, of course, firmly attached so that they couldn't tear out.
However, I had to make sure that the leather strap of the 1st button was a little longer, as this button is the only one of the 4 that is slightly larger.
Als der Mantel dann fertig war und ich auch zufrieden mit meinem Stück, habe ich mir noch überlegt, wie ich den Mantel vorne dann auch zu bekomme, falls starker Wind sein sollte. Ich habe mir überlegt einen Knopf einzuarbeiten, doch dies wäre durch die Faltung sehr schwierig gewesen. Deshalb habe ich mich dazu entschieden, gegebenenfalls eine Brosche reinzumachen und das Problem ist gelöst.
When the coat was finished and I was happy with my piece, I thought about how to close the front of the coat in case of strong winds. I thought about adding a button, but this would have been very difficult because of the folds. That's why I decided to add a brooch if necessary and the problem is solved.
Ich find den Mantel ziemlich schön und ich werd ihn auch sicher im Winter tragen, da er schlicht und warm ist, und ein gewissen Edel ausstrahlt. Es sind nicht zu viele Details, doch genug, dass es einen souveränen Eindruck macht.
I think the coat is quite beautiful and I will definitely wear it in winter, as it is simple and warm and exudes a certain nobility. There aren't too many details, but enough that it makes a confident impression.
und so ist er einfach wieder zusammenfaltbar, und trotz dicken Stoff nimmt er doch nicht so viel Platz weg.
Ich kann den Mantel außerdem auch zweckentfremden und einfach als Decke nutzen.
