Hoy fue uno de esos días que adoro, porque ocurre la magia, lo que en un principio fue una idea en la mente se transforma en realidad y a su vez se abren los ojos de sorpresa acompañado de una sonrisa.

Esa es la cara que quiero ver siempre en mis clientes, no importa cada pinchazo, no importa si me duelen las piernas, me duele la espalda o la cervical, porque ese momento , ese breve instante, esa sonrisa que ilumina el rostro de mi cliente bien vale la pena.

Today was one of those days that I love, because magic happens, what at first was an idea in the mind becomes reality and in turn the eyes open in surprise accompanied by a smile.

That is the face that I always want to see in my clients, no matter each puncture, no matter if my legs hurt, my back hurts or my neck hurts, because that moment, that brief moment, that smile that illuminates the face of my client is well worth it.

Hace buen mes más o menos comencé con este ajuar para Fabricio Andrés, un nombre que me encantó bordar porque me parece elegante, bonito, suave pero a la vez representativo, por supuesto nada común hoy en día.

Amé hacer este ajuar de bebé porque tuve libertad plena para trabajar, mi clienta solo me dijo que le gustaban los colores grises y azules.

A good month or so ago I started with this trousseau for Fabricio Andrés, a name that I loved to embroider because I think it is elegant, beautiful, soft but at the same time representative, of course not common nowadays.

I loved making this baby trousseau because I had complete freedom to work, my client only told me that she liked the gray and blue colors.

El día que fui a comprar los materiales le pedí que me acompañara para que me ayudara un poco escoger las telas y aunque no vi mucha variedad en el mercado tuve la suerte de conseguir esta tela gris con lunares blancos. También tuve mucha suerte de encontrar la tela azul llamada volver burbuja, una tela suave y delicada, especial para hacer la manta del bebé.

The day I went to buy the materials I asked her to come with me to help me choose the fabrics and although I didn't see much variety in the market I was lucky to get this gray fabric with white polka dots. I was also very lucky to find the blue fabric called back bubble, a soft and delicate fabric, especially to make the baby's blanket.

El gasto fue aproximadamente de 20 dólares en telas. Para el relleno tuve la suerte de conseguir una oferta de almohadas con relleno suave, de material antialérgico según decía la descripción. El precio era mucho menor que comprar el relleno antialérgico que venden en el centro de Caracas.

Con esas telas más algunas cintas y encajes que yo tenía en mi taller de costura pude elaborar todo este trabajo.

The expense was approximately $20 in fabrics. For the stuffing I was lucky enough to get an offer of pillows with soft stuffing, made of anti-allergic material according to the description. The price was much lower than buying the anti-allergic stuffing they sell in downtown Caracas.

With those fabrics plus some ribbons and lace that I had in my sewing workshop I was able to elaborate all this work.

La verdad fue una experiencia muy bonita, hacía tiempo que no bordaba con tanto gusto, no sé si es porque la clienta es una buena amiga o simplemente es porque me encanta cuando se aproxima el nacimiento de una nuevo ser.

Hice la pañalera con los últimos retazos que me quedaron, como ven es muy sencilla de elaborar. Para que tengan una idea la hice de 1,30 centímetros por 35 de ancho. Lo que hice fue bordar la tela del nombre calculando que quedara en el centro y a partir de allí fui juntando los retazos. No lleva guata ni nada de eso, solo lleva una tela de forro y nada más. La forma la da una tabla o cartón forrado que lleva por dentro.

The truth is that it was a very nice experience, it had been a long time since I had embroidered with so much pleasure, I don't know if it is because the client is a good friend or simply because I love it when the birth of a new being is approaching.

I made the diaper bag with the last scraps I had left, as you can see it is very simple to make. To give you an idea, I made it 1.30 centimeters by 35 centimeters wide. What I did was to embroider the fabric of the name calculating that it was in the center and from there I was putting together the scraps. It does not have wadding or anything like that, it only has a lining fabric and nothing else. The shape is given by a board or cardboard lined inside.

Esta vez hice la nana con una medida de 80x80 centímetros y no le coloqué nada bordado por petición de la clienta. Solo corté el cuadro azul y el cuadro gris más la guata, pase costura dejando una abertura de 20 centímetros por donde volteamos y cerramos con aguja e hilo normal. Por último pase una costura por todo el borde dejando un espacio de 8 centímetros desde la orilla.

This time I made the lullaby with a size of 80x80 centimeters and I didn't put anything embroidered on it at the client's request. I only cut the blue and gray squares plus the wadding, I sewed leaving a 20 centimeters opening where we turned and closed with a needle and normal thread. Finally I sewed a seam all around the edge leaving a space of 8 centimeters from the edge.

Como siempre les aconsejo si algún día quieren realizar estos trabajos es que se acostumbren a bastear. ¿Qué es bastear? Trata de ajustar o fijar con puntadas de largas de aguja e hilo por toda la pieza para que no se muevan las telas a la hora de coser.

Recuerdo que al principio cuando hacia estos trabajos siempre me equivocaba y tenía que descoser hasta tres veces o más. Descoser tantas veces no nos ayuda en nada, porque suele suceder que dañes la tela o se deteriore.

As I always advise you if you want to make these works someday is that you get used to baste. What is baste? It is to adjust or fix with long needle and thread stitches all over the piece so that the fabrics do not move when sewing.

I remember that in the beginning when I did these jobs I always made mistakes and had to unpick up to three times or more. Unpicking so many times does not help us at all, because it usually happens that you damage the fabric or it deteriorates.

Desde que descubrí o aprendí el basteado más nunca tuve que repetir tantos trabajos. Tal vez tardemos un poco más pero te aseguro que te ahorraras un montón de tiempo y tu pieza quedara hermosa y lo mejor de todo quedara prolija.

Since I discovered or learned baste stitching I have never had to repeat so many jobs. It may take a little longer but I assure you that you will save a lot of time and your piece will be beautiful and best of all it will be neat.

Por ultimo me gustaría contarles sobre la funda o cojín de la oración del Ángel de la guarda, como pueden ver es distinta a lo demás y es que quise hacerla en verde agua porque cuando estábamos comparando las telas le mostré a mi amiga una segunda opción sino conseguíamos nada gris con azul que nos gustara; cuando ella vio la tela verde le encantó tanto que estuvo a punto de cambiar de parecer. Por eso le hice este pequeño detalle y les cuento que le encantó.

Finally I would like to tell you about the cover or cushion of the Guardian Angel prayer, as you can see it is different from the rest and I wanted to make it in aqua green because when we were comparing the fabrics I showed my friend a second option if we didn't get anything gray with blue that we liked; when she saw the green fabric she loved it so much that she was about to change her mind. So I made her this little detail and I tell you that she loved it.
