Hello everyone
Happy Sunday to you on this beautiful day, I hope you all are doing great, as for me, it's really a lovely day so far.
I will be sharing with you today from my sewing room the cutting and sewing process of this beautiful outfit I made for my close friend in the neighborhood Oluwaseun who got married some months ago, this particular fabric was the fabric the bride's family selected for family and friends in order to grace the occasion, it is our culture here to celebrate people with a unique fabric in uniform just to grace the occasion. As the bride, she also got 4yard for herself and 4yards for her husband as well. I got mine as well as a close friend and I made a short gathered gown with long sleeves and a princess dart bustier with ruffles on the shoulder.
My friend got hers and kept it since her wedding few months ago, just recently, she decided to sew the dress and wear it to grace a naming ceremony of one of her friends, she contacted me that she would prefer something simple as she also didn't want to spend much on the fabric because of the texture and the quality of the fabric, well that is my area of specialty as it is my motto, making you look great within your budget, so when it comes to making a simple outfit, I can really help out. I decided to make this simple and beautiful gown for her, after my description of what to make, she agreed with me as she so much trust what I can do with my creativity.
I made made this turtle neck pencil gown with half cut and a 360° flare by the side to make it a little bit stylish and at the shoulder to the bust area, I added an applique to add more beauty to the dress.
To make this, I had to put the cost into consideration as it was earlier been said that she just wanted something simple, so I cut out a basic straight lower part of a gown using her bodice measurement to cut out the front and back with lining.
Cutting out the upper bodice was not a problem as I just make a basic bodice of a turtle neck with a basic dart at the front and back with zipper allowance, the same shape was cut out on the lining as well.
The upper and lower part of the gown were sewn together and I have this set aside
From the the fabric, I cut out a flare measuring from the front dart leg to the back dart leg which was turned with lining and sewn to the side of the gown on the waistline
I bought an applique from the market of $0.5 and added it to the shoulder to the bust area of the from side.
I cut out a basic sleeve of 10" and sew it to the armhole circumference while the flare was sewn to the waistline and the zipper at the back of the gown.
This is the beautiful outcome of the dress I made for my friend, I hope you like the outcome.
