Hi, prestigious members of this community, I am here again to share this beautiful story with you.
If you remember vividly, I posted a rich aunty vibes boubou
I made it for one of my clients, I must confess I kept thinking about that outfit because, I've never made a boubou for myself, simply because I felt I would be looking weird in it.
But for a change, I decided to try out something different and so I went for the fabric hunt because of the inspiration.
I saw this floral mesh which caught my eye, so I decided to go for it.
I also bought a sequin that will be used as a lining and applique to make it look classy, it's a very stylish fringe though.
Here are the pictures below.
Cutting again on my floor?😃😃😃 When I cut at home it is done on the floor don't mind me.
So I proceeded to cut this boubou. In the picture, I've folded my floral mesh and I am ready to place my bust measurement, hip, neckline, and another measurement, since it is a boubou I added about 3 inches to the sides and then I did a canoe neckline.
I have cut the fabrics here and you can see how the sleeve was cut together, I didn't have to cut a sleeve separately.
Moving on to the sequin, I cut a deep stylish round neck and then I cut my armhole using 8 inches to get it.
I placed my bust measurement and hip measurement with about 1.5 inches allowance on both sides and from the picture you can see how I cut it.
I did the same for the front and back as seen in the picture.
Moving to the fringe which will be attached to the sleeve, this fringe usually has mesh along with it, since the mesh will be of no use to me, I had to cut it out as seen in the pictures below.
Here, I have finished citing the mesh out of the main fringes, so I have just the fringe to work with.
I processed to my sewing machine and did what I love to do, which is sewing each piece together.
For the boubou, it is quite simple, I joined the front and back together and made a straight stitch on the shoulder, I marked about 10 inches from the sleeve and the sew from that 10 inches down, I did the same on both sides.
Then I used a bias to run down the sequin neckline and armhole and then shaped adding inches to my body measurement.
After sewing my boubou, I attached the fringes to the tip of the sleeves and also the neckline, but I removed the fringes from the trimmings when attaching them to the neckline.
I've been making dresses for people and neglected myself for too long, so I've decided to make nice outfits for myself at least once or twice a month.
Babygirl needs to be taken care of, don't you think so?
Now here is the finished outcome, like I always do. I rocked it so well.
As usual, I got a lot of compliments, the funny thing is how I was greeted with "Iyawo Dantata", Dantata is the Nigerian richest businessman, and people addressed me like his wife, omg, the feeling was so sweet.
I think we should try out different styles of clothing and from now on, I will be rocking more of Boubou too.
I loved everything about the outfit, it is easy to sew and easy to rock, I wouldn't have to deal with sweat and it is a see-through outfit.
It depicts class and elegance too.
Thanks for reading, I hope you liked the outcome.
All images used are mine, cut, and sewn by me.
