The High Bananas and Bamboo cutting

Learning Bamboo cutting to defend the bananas

Sometimes there are things we cannot simply do - because our body weight does not permit us to be able to do them. We got few curry banana trees, that is in our backwards and interestingly, they have grown so high in such a place that, we had to ask for some assistance from the thin guy staying on rent at our house.

You see the broken glass pieces fixed on the wall ? They are meant for thieves - in rural areas, this kind of crime is common. People always sneak into and take away what they can easily.

It was a huge one - so we had to cut them in parts before cutting the whole. This had some wall support, but we have another bigger one, which needed support.

There were couple of small bamboos, which I fixed. But Mom is perfectionist - she was not happy about the support and she made me cut some new bamboos. For the first time in life, I had to learn which bamboo is suitable to cut. I went for the thick ones but she guided me to cut the matured ones. These are some of the leanings I doubt, our next generation will know.

Cutting the bamboo was not difficult - getting it out was tough. I had to call for assistance - our maid.

And then cleaning them took quite a bit time.

And then had to straighten it.

After all this hard work, I planned to fix these in the afternoon. Little did I know that, they would not be needed - the cyclone weakened diverting somewhere else, and the prediction was it will only rain and no wind. So we just left it there. It rained the entire night yesterday and till afternoon today - but everything is safe. It's the wind which damages more - after severe rain, the soil being wet, wind causes the destruction easily. Thank to the nature, it saved us this time. But I keep wondering how frequent we will see such situations.

That´s interesting. I saw those little pieces of glass on walls around banana plantations on some European islands but I didn´t realize they were to protect the bananas from thieves, I thought they were to keep the birds away so that they wouldn´t make poops around :D I mean this is what people do for example here in Krakow where pigeons are severely overpopulated. People install little metal spikes on their window ledges and balconies so that the pigeons wouldn´t come there and make poops all over the place :D Btw what did you plan to use the bamboos for? To support the bending bananas?

Ya, there were couple of handicapped bamboos which I gave as support but Mom did not leave me and wanted to put some strong support 😀

Haha I see. Moms are always right! :D

The first photography was awesome. Looks like you're not cutting bamboo but fighting bamboo. The banana tree has a very good yield. It was very important to cover the trees with bamboo to protect them from the effects of Cyclone Jawad. You have done many beautiful things like a nature lover.

Ya man, I did not think, it would be so difficult to pull them.

Of course I don't have that experience because we don't have a bamboo garden here.

They do that with broken glass here too. I hope the bamboo does the job @sanjeevm! You worked really hard

Thanks for sharing those insights, @sanjeevm. Getting to bananas does not seem easy at all. Glad to see everything tuned out to be safe at the end this time.

Hello dear friend @sanjeevm good afternoon
How interesting your day cut bananas and bamboos, how good you know how to do it.
What a joy that the siclon has deviated, and now the danger has passed
I appreciate you giving us this update on the situation.
I wish you a happy start to the week

Thank you so much. Wish you an amazing week ahead.

Its amazing to see your love toward the nature and the love toward fresh things.... @sanjeevm

The things we have to do to defend what is ours, petty thiefs are everywhere, and is something common, sadly :(. But the amount of work you did, was a good exercise and a way to help your friends and family... We will see more frequency on thiose situations, as i said on my post, Yggdrasil is no longer supporting mankind, we have hit nature way too hard with pollution and earth is becoming a bit more hostile to us each year.

earth is becoming a bit more hostile to us each year.

So true, but isn't it we who are making earth to behave like this ? We never care about consequences and take care of nature as a global entity.

Good point, was mankind who burned, destroyed, consumed and broke the balance nature had, now we are paying the bill for our actions for generations. The problem is, our inocent childrend are not to blame, we gotta find ways to fix it

There are some things that a person cannot do without the help of someone

Cyclone Jawad has been raging here for the last two days. It is very important to take care of the banana plant during this time. Or the tree is likely to fall at any moment.

In our country, in rural as well as urban areas, broken glass on top of walls continues to be used to protect property and other items from thieves. This is because the spread of thieves has increased with the increase in economic difficulties these days. Fortunately, nature has protected you from all natural disasters. Loving it may be one reason.

The older I get, the harder it is to do hard labour in the garden! My body hurts for days afterwards. Glad you got some help. This strange weather is worrying. I guess we have to get used to it as the new normal. @riverflows

For me, if I work continuously then I am good, but if I leave and sit idle for few days, then the body tells don't do anything..
