Well, that was one hell of a day yesterday. The storm hit and it actually hit this time. They were calling for 5 to 8 inches and the storm did not disappoint. At 6:00 am we had 4.5 inches and it was still going strong.
I went out to brush off @stryeyz car then the tub cover. and to make a path around the corner to the tub. We soaked for a bit but soon we were out and I was out with the shovel getting the gate cleared so it would open.
It was snowing all morning so I got the gate cleared and a bit at the end of the driveway. I called it good for the time being and I went back inside to let it snow.
School was at first delayed then it was quickly canceled for the day. The boys were outside in the snow a good part of the day.
It finally stopped snowing around 11:00 am and I was able to get the paths cleared.
We had gotten 2 inches more for a total of 6.5" from the 14 hours of snow storm.
So much snow to move. I'm really happy that I made the berms as far apart as I did since it allowed me room to push all the new snow. We had over 16 inches of snow on the farm before last night.
I kind of started randomly clearing areas but then I had to go eat lunch to get myself some energy. I also changed out of my fleece as I was getting super hot from the work.
The chickens were rather happy that I had the cleared are for them to walk without being neck deep in snow.
I let Jax hangout while I shoveled and he spent a lot of time bounding trough the snow.
It was way more comfortable to wear my kilt for shoveling. Rather funny getup with my bunny boots and kilt but it worked perfectly. Layering for the situation is easy at home. I had J takes these couple of shots for me.
Much of the day they both spent digging caves in the mounds of snow that I have built up around the farm.
3 hours of shoveling and pushing snow and I had the main areas done. I was especially driven to get it cleared because the forecast was for rain last night and it did exactly that. I have no desire to move that much wet and heavy snow, it was hard enough to move fresh light snow.
My reward was a nice hot soak and pounding jets. It only helped so much though as it was quite the workout. My arms and shoulders are still feeling it this morning.
I did get to make a snow angel next to the tub though.
The rest of the afternoon I spent resting and ended up putting on Boondock Saints as I haven't watched in a while. After dinner we went out for our evening soak and I tried to work the sore muscles the best I could. I'm still damn sore this morning but really really thankful I did as much as I did.
I woke up this morning to it dumping rain, a lot of it. Almost all the trees on the property are free of snow and the rain gauge ended up with .89 inches. That is a lot of rain on top of 16 inches of snow. No wonder they canceled school again today.
Today I have to pack for tomorrow as I am heading north to go camp in the cave for a night or two. It will be a hell of slog in with how much snow we have gotten. I need to talk with Art today and decide if I am going to go with snowshoes or skis. I have to do some more snow moving but it will be minimal, specially since it is all as heavy as concrete now.
