I was not very pleased when I looked out the kitchen window while making my tea and saw the wet ground. I immediately opened the doppler to see the storm cells that had moved past. I had not covered anything in the yard and a ton of stuff got wet that I really didn't want to. Boxes mostly but they held items nicely and now they are trash.
It continued to rain for another couple of hours and it was near noon before I got out to get the squash picked which managed another 15.5 pounds.
The cucumbers are still going okay and they had 38 for me. I only need another 20 for my order for Tuesday.
The vast majority of my day was spent moving stuff around the farm. I first had to clear off the back porch of the big studio which was a complete mess still from the roofing remodel last year. In my cleaning I found my grandparent's old magnetic vehicle signs for their buckskin clothing business they ran when I was a kid. I have a pair of them and this one is nicely mounted just inside my glass studio. They both died in the 90s before I was out of high school.
Space made and available to be quickly filled.
In my travels back and forth between the house and the studio I found a handful of wolly bears and R then ended up with ove a dozen in his hands. He eventually had to go to holding them in his shirt. Most of them have the similar sized brown section of 4 segments.
Later in the afternoon I spent a bit of time picking tomatoes of which I got 9.5 pounds, my largest haul this year so far.
Much of the stuff that was under the carport and got moved for my glass studio is now safely ensconced beneath the metal roofing of the back porch of the studio. I am now down to a much smaller pile of stuff to deal with and soon I will have the yard cleaned up.
The co-op board meeting went well and we were done by 7pm. The forecast calls for 31 F Monday and Tuesday nights so I have a shit ton to get done before then. I may end up having to pick all the melons Sunday which will be hundreds of pounds that will have to get stored for ripening. Sunday evening will be a rush to make sure I can cover as much as possible, even with tarps and sheets if need be.
Today I have to go up to the melon garden and try to count how many midgets I have, I want to go to North 40 to get the wire for my studio and a few gas fittings, I still need to get more hay, I am going to get the rest of the stuff moved around the yard and make my dump pile centrally located to make it easy to load next week.
