Finishing things is the hardest part, mostly because things never finish, there is seemingly always more to do!
I feel a bit that way about our new bathroom, if you've been following along you know it should be finished right now. And it is! Except for all the unfinished things!
Here is the front wall, home to an upcoming mural painting. Much has been discussed between aunt and niece, but probably this is slated for Summer vacation, because its back to school next week.
Here's this part, all pretty and whatnot, but I'm going to have to push the floor out one more tile, and likely extend the roof. Its an easy enough addon with three guys and the material ready - the rainy season is just too strong here and we need more runway.
Also looks like the roof supports would be happy to get baked into a bit of the floor addition, and I've already got plenty of rocks stomped in to probably make a pretty stable addition. Not sure when I'll get around to this, its definitively in the middle of my to-do list right now.
Both bathrooms turned out great, we are using them now and even had guests over this weekend for a fireside celebration of the full moon, we laughed and sang and danced and no body had to venture into the woods just to use the restroom! It was great!
And as long as there is electricity we have warm showers!
We have had some doggie schenanigans with the bathroom garbage, for now the solution is to leave the door closed (they cant work the lock).
The kitchenette area is also coming along nicely and currently in use! We got a gas stove through a family upgrade, and brought it up to the farm with a natural gas tank. Two of the burners are rusted shut though, so I have to take it apart and see what I can fix. The locals are telling me 'coca cola' will do the trick.
This area needs some ornamentation still, plus we have to lug over the fridge, which thankfully is already on the farm over in the old house.
We removed the table and 10 people danced salsa here during a brief rainstorm this weekend. I think the space is growing on us all.
And of course the water tank is working well, but it needs a previous tank, too much stuff is getting through and so far I have cleaned the tap filters every week. This task is higher on my to-do list, I have marked the final water routes and am now cleaning an area to set up a filter tank for the water flow that comes from our natural stream to settle before reaching this tank.
And don't forget about the garage....
Its still a garage, filled with tools and material, plus make shift doggie beds. There's a bit of work for me here cleaning up this whole area.
Its not easy for me to take pictures of my unkempt garage, I'm much more likely to wait until things are clean and looking good. But with all this 'finished' construction has left waiting for me to do, that could be months away.
And all you followers deserve an update, I've strung you along this far haven't I?
May the Lord grant us the strength to continue and the motivation to do everything that needs to be done! I can feel life moving away from a 'vacation period' and back into a higher gear - let's keep pushing!
