Scrumptious Air-light, Cheesy Puffs
Sometimes the sunrise demands the accompanying fragrance of freshly baked goodies, but you don’t have the energy or patience to make croissants or cheese rolls. At times like these it’s great to have a simple recipe up your sleeve that comes together almost instantly and tastes like light, airy, cheesy (haha), slices of heaven. These puffs are incredibly easy to make, and they’re resilient enough for me to consider this a flop-proof recipe, which is great when you’re still half awake at 5:00AM in the morning (promise it is). ❤️❤️ 🐣🐥
Ingredients
1 ½ cups cheddar cheese, grated
1 cup flour
1 egg
¾ cup milk
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 ½ tablespoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
Black pepper to taste
½ tablespoons chili flakes (optional)
½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
Handful chopped chives or Italian parsley
Time 20 minutes
Serves 4 persons ( makes 12 to 15 puffs)
Method
Combine cheese, flour, salt, pepper, baking powder, sugar and herbs in a large bowl, mix thoroughly. Beat the egg, blend well with the milk. Add the milk and egg mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Drop spoonfuls of mixture onto a well greased baking tray and bake at 190 degrees Celsius for 12-15 minutes (until a toothpick inserted into the puff comes out clean). Enjoy 😉
