Garnish - Dried fruits for my xmas drinks

in #hive-1205863 years ago

I really love December, and I always look forward to decorate, make xmas food and bake. And for a few days ago did I dry fruits for garnish on my drinks and for decoration.

I dried fruit last year for xmas too, and I used it in my drinks, for decorating tables, decorate presents and my xmas tree.

This year I decided to dry two oranges and one lime.

This is really easy, it only takes a lot of time in the oven.

1 . Set your oven on 120 degrees C.
2 . Cut the fruits you want to dry. Apples, lemon, orange, lime, grapefruit, blood orange.. it's up to you what you want to dry. But some fruits needs longer time than others.

3 . Place the cut fruits on a baking parchment and put in the oven.
4 . How long they need depends on the fruits. I check on them every 30 minutes, and I took them out after 3 1/2 hours.

I think it turned out really great this year too. And I doesn't really care that the lime actually got burned, because I think it looks nice anyways!

I always let them dry a little bit extra in room temperature overnight of they aren't completly dry after 3 1/2 hours in the oven.

I keep them in a tightly sealed glass jar, and they will last through December! My Gin and Tonic will look great this year, maybe I should make myself a gin right now?

Do you have some holiday traditions you have to do/make?

I thought about the electricity costs if I had to do this. However, I've always been curious about making dried fruit in the oven. Your dried fruits look beautiful!

Have you ever tried making dried fruit with a dehydrator?

No I never have tried it! Using a dehydrator is the best way of drying fruits, but since I only do it once a year It's not really a good idea to buy one to do it :/
I think bars and restaurants use a dehydrator for making garnish 😄
Thank you!

Can't wait to drink Christmas drink with this stuff 😸

I never thought to do something like this with fruit. I love the look of that burnt lime. That is proof that imperfections often equal beauty.

If and when I was to ever drink liquor, gin is the go-to. Sounds like you have the right idea for your next drink.

You should try it. Your drink looks a little bit extra with some dried fruits. And it smells so nice in the apartment while making it too! :D
