Prepping for Winter NOW - 24 ALREADY DEAD

in #hive-114308last year

We are prepping now!

Winter is coming, and often homesteading gets harder. The freezing temps make it harder to work outside, and more costly to stay warm inside. The garden production grinds to almost a halt, and the poultry stop laying. We've got to get things ready for winter, and right now that means culling our flocks. This will be tasty! Enjoy the show!

@papa-pepper Growing up we had large flocks of Muscovy ducks. When butchering time came my Dad would burn brown paper bags and rotate the carcass over the flames to burn the pin feathers off after removing all the larger feathers. It really sped the cleaning process up on those ducks.

Thanks for that!

Indeed! Quite Welcome.

Also we had several kinds of birds and I was the main egg collector... which was under the house... in the crawl space with a BB rifle... and a basket... gathering eggs. They ate the bugs well and were quite hardy.

Muscovy ducks are my go to for eggs if I have the chance to have ducks. There was always a tremendous amount of eggs and they kept well and were quite large.

Hello my friend! 😊

The children are great at handling all those meat birds. I think they do a better job than I do, if I'm being honest. Love the thumbnail photo! 😊

Oh, I wrote you a question on Discord, thanks in advance for your reply. 😊

God bless you and your wonderful family. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! 😊

I'll try to jump on discord sometime soon. thank you
