DRIED MEAT?

in #hive-114308last year

Have you ever tried this?

Dried meat is not exactly uncommon these days, and it seems in times past it was even more common. We've thought about trying some for years, but never tested any out, until now. I took a 6.6 oz piece of meat with no fat or sinew on it, and I covered it in salt. It dripped for a while, and after two or three weeks it weighed 2.3 oz. It had lost about 2/3 of its total weight. At that point, I cut it open.

What do y'all think? Is this safe to eat? Can it be enjoyed? Is just salt enough to preserve meat? We're doing experiments over here, and thought y'all might be interested. Please provide some feedback if you've got any. Thanks much!

imho, the meat 🍖 itself is healthful to eat... the unhealthful part of your salted meat is the salt and absence of its naturally-occurring structured-water 💦; i believe that we could get all of our sodium requirements from plant 🌱 juices consumed unpasteurized.

and, the most healthfully way to consume animal flesh is actually raw-prepared and referred to as: “high meat”

I would eat it!
