HELLO HIVE
It is the month of match already and we have started to experience some levels of rainfall although it has not gotten to the level where ot will make the ground fit for planting.
The consistency and the amount of the rain is what is going to determine if it is time or not, looking at how dry most of the land are especially the lands around the river bank and the fadama ( rice land) planting anything now will be a total waste of time and precious seeds.
The temperature is so high that any potential seedling will dry up before it can be deeply rooted to the ground. These is actually the best time to clear the farm and make your ridges this way you can be rest assured that you will be ready any time the rain starts.
When the rain starts to fall consistently then you know that it is time to plant your maize, the ground does not have to be very moist for this plant since it is not that it needs a lot of rainfall to survive but water it needs is consistent rainfall, but for swamp rice we will have to wait a little longer if it is the swamp rice. Not all variety of rice require water in large quantities.
