Things are exploding around here! Like plants in growth not people's extremities or cannisters of gases. I mean, that probably also happened over the last couple of days across the country, but not here on the farm.
You'll have to pardon me, I am a little road weary. There's been driving to parties, working multiple shifts, game night festivities, and of course never-ending farm chores.
In fact, here in a bit I am heading to a concert at a speedway. It's going to be a goodtime.
But first, I might take a little nap, you know, for recharging purposes. I mean even today, on my supposed day "off" I went out and mulched the green beans and carrots.
You see, we have a heat wave about to hit us, and even though I have been building the organic matter in my silt sand soil of drainy-ness, it still dries out FAST! So, I am pre-emptively mulching everything as much as I can.
Plus, it looks kinda nice.
Tomorrow, before I head to the wedding, I have to harvest peas, cut and dry the first lavender of the season, cut cilantro, cut kale, and cut calendula for drying.
Pieces of cake.
Speaking of cake, I wonder how tasty my dear friend's wedding cake will be? Hmmm and yum...
While I was in mulch mode, I also noted that the potatoes were starting to bloom, which means I also need to get my rose and bloom emulsion applied to them so that my tubers get YUGE! I want big potatoes this year dangit!
And with the lavender just about ready to pop off, I also have to set up the still for some hydrosol and lavender essential oil distillation chore time as well.
It will be so much fun doing that in triple digit temperatures!
But, I am not too distraught, it is July after all, it should be hot, and I am pretty reasonably prepared in the plant care department for this wave of scorching.
Just like I am prepared for a little siesta. Because naps are awesome!
Almost as awesome as car surfing down a country road. I guess I must have tapped into my Johnny Knoxville antics viewing era of my cortex, because on the 4th of July I actually hopped on the roof of my friend's mini van and rode it down the road for a spell. Honestly, it was a nice diversion. There's something therapeutic about the wind whipping through your hair as you surf on top of a vehicle.
I mean, in my country the 4th is about independence and freedom and such.😉
But, that's enough mind meandering for now, my chores are done, my carcass in reasonably cleansed, and my new fancy 1%er jeans are hanging on my closet door ready to be trotted out for a bit of music and friend enjoyment scenes!
Hope you all are having the most excellent weekend!!
