Grain Run, Seeds, Book, Weeding, PDC, Mowing, Wood, Fire, Grilling - Friday

in #hive-1143084 months ago

My day started early yesterday morning with a trip to town for grain. It wasn't a huge load so only took a few minutes to load. The sun had come up already at 5:30am as I headed for home.

The remnants of the storm system that blew past over night was still floating about as I headed north.

I spread the grain a bit more this time. When the load is smaller I have to otherwise the sheep fight over the single pile. This way they can spread out and each have a pile to munch on.

Mid morning I grabbed the cucumber seeds and stuffed some in the soil in the greenhouse where they had not sprouted. 8, 7, and 6 spots seeded.

FINALLY I have the book I ordered. I wish I would have known of this book years ago as I would have liked to have been working on it. I worked out the length of the curriculum and having started June 10th it will be May 9th 2027 if I follow the prescribed number of days per door. I have already got the second step of the first door largely done but need to ponder the first step a bit more.

After pouring through my book for a bit I headed out to pull weeds around the greenhouse. I heard the flapping of the dragonfly as it was stuck inside so I went and rescued it. It hunkered down in my gloved hand and once I stepped outside and moved my thumb it looked around at me then flew off quickly.

3 rows weeded just about filled the tub.

Combined with the weeds I had pulled the prior day it made a nice big pile for the sheep to munch on.

The Polish darts masters was on mid day and there were not really any surprise wins. The PDC players all won except Aspinall.

I wasn't wanting to but I had to go mow the other side of the creek. It had gotten DEEP since I last mowed it so it took me a while to cut everything.

The hardest part was the hillside by the road which I used the mower to cut. Side-hilling is not the easiest but I managed to get everything mowed down. I even saved the wormwoods.

The grass around the arb shows how tall it was. About half an hour to get through the area.

This tree will be coming down soon. It is dying off and has a serious arch to it. I think I can climb the tree to the lowest branch and top the thing pretty easily. That will be for down the road a bit though.

I walked back in the house to see J in the kitchen making a batch of tortillas. I love that he just takes the initiative and makes them.

I worked on the Blackstone a bit trying to get the right side burner to light correctly. It seems to have a bit of trouble lighting still even after reseating the burner.

I went to go get wood I had seen by the garden when I was looking at the tree. This is the area where I threw the amaranth last year and holy shit did they sprout. This is a small forest of amaranth seedlings.

I filled the cart with rounds and hauled them back to the inner yard where I split a few to use to get the fire built up for the evening.

J's tortillas came out delicious.

The boys like "camping" out in their tent and I saw the forecast called for chances of rain so I grabbed the tarp and tossed it over the tent. It was super handy that the tarp corner slid onto the tent pole so it held it in place. It also allowed them to slide the tarp forward over the door to block some light this morning, though it is cloudy and the sun isn't blasting them.

Grilled burgers for dinner and @stryeyz made a quick slaw.

Got out to soak later than normal and got about 45 minutes soaking.

Likely rain today off and on, PDC will finish up, have to get anything under cover that needs to stay dry, pull more weeds, try and deal with the increasing pain levels, and I have a few cabbage that need to be picked before they split.

It really needs to be clean by removing those weeds. We also experienced that kind of situations, and it is really a little bit challenging to remove those thick grass and weeds.

I can see how clean the environment is looking and such can easily be achieved with the help of a machine on like Nigerian who loves to use manpower.
