Homesteading Journal Day2: My Soursop Fruit Tree Journey

in #hive-1143086 months ago

Hi homesteading friends!, i would love to say Good morning from here, Happy weekend. its a wonderful weekend over here already, i feel excited that my #homesteading and #gardening journey is becoming a reality as the days come. My last post here was on my desire to own my hot pepper farm and now i have started giving out fresh pepper from my farm.

The success of the pepper journey, inspired and motivated me into growing a soursop fruit tree, its going on smoothly and amazingly, This have taught me many lessons, you don't necessarily need to have all you need to make it in life but if you can set your mind on it, capacity will be built inside that will facilitate the journey, resources will as well fall in places.

Like i said, am a missionary, i cant tell my duration in a particular environment, you only know it as long as you are in that environment, so this often make me maximize the opportunity that i have to be in a certain region, I know that i will not necessarily be around to reap the friut of this very tree but am sure it will be a blessing to another missionary that will be sent here in time to come.

The rapid growing seed will produce first fruit in about five years from seeding, the Seeds can still be viable for about six months but better still it will be better if planted after about 30 days after the harvest, the seeds will also germinate within 15-30 days.

I got my seeds from a friends farm, in a community near were i stay, i nursed them in a polyline bag for about three weeks, my due apologies that i have lost the picture that captured the initial nursing process due to the fact that my device went bad, but am sure you not miss the future progress.

I separated the seedlings into separate bags as you can see in the photo and watered them daily effectively, this one has taken me about two months now

This time around i was worried about were to plant it, because the mission land is there and it will be best planted there. like you can see, i have about five seedlings going through the nursery process, i intend to only plant about two of it and give out the other three.

As you can see i nursed them just beside my house, so everyone who came to visit me, kept admiring them and were developing interest for the seedlings, I also do have people who are also asking me to sell it for them, so am making plans to mass produce them for commercial purpose.

I want to leave it here for the next three weeks then put it in a more bigger bag, while i continue to study the growing process . I will keep you posted on the growing process of my soursop tree journey. I really appreciate all your support to my journey here on the #homesteading community, a big thanks to @curangel and @ocdb for always being behind my back, i really appreciate all commitment and engagement, i salute you @monica-ene, thanks for the motivation. i will be back here early next week @emylight , keep being the best as you enjoy your weekend.
