Finally my cat got his own space at our room. Though he has a space every where inside and out of our house, I really wanted him to have his own bed nest so he can relax and figure out that he owns it. Beside he was the only one who can actually fit in that house too.

It is made out from recycle materials which cost me nothing. We have a cardboard which I get for free. It is a box for 3 in 1 coffee. My fiance decides that he would do it instead of me. He uses the following materials:

1 large box (cardboard)
Wide tapes
Cutter
Pencil and ruler
Scissor
Glue
Bamboo sticks

Here's how he did:

  • He cut the box according to the body size of my cat. He leaved extra allowance so he can lift his head when yawning and stretching which happens all the time.

  • Then proceed to cut the door and the front window using cutter blade.

  • Follow by 2 windows from left to right. The size of the window are large so we can reach him inside using an access from the left window.

  • He fold the other edge of the box and add some cardboard from trimmed box. So it has a higher ceiling.

  • The window got some extra board to have a look like an real window that has a rain shade. Using a glue or hot glue to ensure that it is fitted right.

  • Next the right window, he put some bamboo sticks to put some grills. Just to add few design since we didn't want to apply any paint over it.

At first I wanted to use and water base paint to cover and make it beautiful. But I hesitate to do it thinking it will harm him or the smell of the paint will lead him to dislike it and resist to come inside. The better option I guess was to cover it with some colored paper.

The wide tapes acts the hot glue and helps to take out the unwanted shapes of edges. We used a tape with tag on it, better than nothing to use tho.

I also put his old blanket inside so he can smell it and feels that it belongs to him. The first try wasn't good. He was so anxious and worried inside. We give his treats inside so he can come inside but still wanted to get out. We just allowed him to rest and after awhile I assist him gently to come inside if his house.

This photo was 3rd day and I think he adopts it now. Look at him he just laid down and starting to sleep after he got his dinner. He can sleep longer inside without being squeeze of tiny box like the old one. Once I get a colored paper, I will show you how it looks and I will make it personalized for him. I'll be back for next update, see you next time! :)
