It had been on my mind for a while to make curtains for the minivan windows. Last night I went to the hardware shop and got bits to make up curtains. I had already the fabric to use so I just needed to get the other bits.
Now, I wasnt ever intending to be doing any kind of sewing on these but the method I planned which I knew would be hit and miss , was to use glue instead of sewing.
Ha - there must have been 100's of other men made curtains which used glue with no sewing threads lol
I started on the back window
because its got the morning sun shining though it, and I think would be the easiest to see if it worked well.
This material has no other purpose and Im happy to be using it up so I dont have to store it anywhere or give it away. The front part of the van is full of bedding and fabric lol
looks like I wont have enough eyelits for all the windows because some are hook shaped!
I tied string onto the hook and next step was to put holes in the edge of the fabric to weave the string though. I had to make two curtains, so I measured out and cut the fabric to size.
One done!
I tried to fold the edge and to stick it with glue so there was somewhere to push the string through, but it wasnt working. The solution worked very well though!
It was easy to put a whole in every other square on the fabric and feed the string through. The square acted as a strong part and will not rip.
It didnt take much time to do, and when both poeces where cut to size and hung up, they fitted well.
Next, as I thought..
I would need to do the same thing on the bottom of the fabric too. Repeated the process again, and ended up with a neat set of curtains!
