We got our workshop!
This has been a fair old process, mostly because local government runs at the pace that you might expect, but also because originally I was budgeting thinking whatever else happens, my HIVE income would cover the rent.
Hahahahah.
I would be lucky for my average post to cover a McCoffee.
But I digress.
As our security guard above indicates, our first task is to clean and paint. The toilet in particular looked horrendous.
Remember that scene from Trainspotting? Yeah like that.
Speaking of security, I quickly rigged up a camera because people keep just walking in uninvited. Apparently not only was the previous tenant open to the public, but another tenant in the business center has the same Unit number.
With budget being tight and us being in a business premises our Internet is right now supplied by a 4G/LTE data which is heavily influenced by the metal construction of much of the workshop, but still gives respectable, though not particularly fast speeds when the weather is good.
I will keep moving the router around to see if I can get a better signal.
My main concern isn't so much regular use, which is pretty much ok for most things, it is streaming and video calls which are a large part of my "other" job as a blog coach and internet consultant.
Really I would rather be able to do everything from here instead of have to go back to my home office, but I can do that if necessary.
Speaking of streaming, I hope to get going again with YouTube and to that point, more machines are starting to arrive.
My desk is partially set up, right now I am using an AMD based Mini PC from Beelink with 16GB of RAM and a portable monitor.
The first delivery was a nice CO2 laser from OMTech. A resin 3D printer is going to arrive later today, with a 60W fiber laser also on the way soon!
